50 years D. Dornblüth & Sohn - Everything began with an idea in the early 1960s, when Dieter Dornblüth, at that time a journeyman in his wandering years, first got the idea of his own clockwork in his head and did not let go.
Quintus - this name now stands for the fifth factory in the watchmaker's workshop D. Dornblüth & Sohn and at the same time for 50 years of watchmaking experience, which brings the team into the new line of the same name.
The key for the first in-house work lay back in the past: Fascinated by Maltese cross mechanisms in the old precision pocket watches, the team around Dirk Dornblüth developed a unique Maltese cross construction visible through the sapphire glass Which makes it possible to achieve higher gait accuracy. In addition, the Maltese cross construction serves as a blocking mechanism, in which the reaching of the volumetric train can be felt precisely.
The D. Dornblüth & Sohn team has integrated the classic, but forgotten element of the watchmaking industry of the 1940s: the short anchoring system, in addition to the large screw-rest fitted with a Breguet spiral, which moves with classic 18,000 half-vibrations. With this special design, the armature wheel rests under the balance and ensures that the inhibition on the uniformity of the oscillations of the oscillations by its small and light construction only exerts very little disturbing influence.
The "Quintus Classic" model shows a classic decentralized seconds display, the "Quintus Up & Down" model combines the decentralized seconds display and the gear reserve display. Both lines show an engraved dial with the typical silk-white finished surface, known from historical pendulum and observation watches.
